Walmart Owns the Holiday Season

Recently, Walmart, in an attempt to be cool with those who are young and hip, mentioned Facebook and Twitter in an advertisment.  But they are not done yet.  Not by a long ways.

Currently they are touting the number of Wii’s they have instock.  With the fact that the Wii console has been in short supply since it’s release, one can only assume that Walmart has purchased every available Wii in the known world.  Since the Wii is topping the gadget list for this holiday season, even for the elderly,  Walmart owns the smiles on countless future gamers faces.

Next, rumors are flying that Walmart will begin selling the iPhone.  There are even rumors that Walmart might even be carrying a 4gb iPhone for $99.  With the iPhone sure to be on the top gadgets list this holiday season, Walmart may end up being a truely one-stop-shop for everything.

In the past, Walmart has simply been a metric to measure holiday sales.  In the future, Walmart may be the only sales number that matters.  That will be a sad, sad day indeed.
