Gift Guide #2 - Video Games
Video games and the systems to play them on continue to top wish lists. But with so many systems available, how do you know what to buy to compliment these gifts. Here is a few ideas.
If someone is getting a new system as a gift, ask which system they are getting. Find out as much as you can about the system and if it is bundled with anything. If the person is getting a new system to replace an older one, find out which games they played the most on the older system. Often, there is a newer version available for the system they are getting. If it is their first system, buying a game that they will really enjoy may be harder. This is where a gift card might be a good idea. But beware, in our current economic situation, only buy gift cards for stores that are not in financial trouble, closing stores or filing bankruptcy.
Magazines are also a good choice and one that people hardly ever think of. There are several magazines dedicated to video games and several a dedicated to specific systems. A quick search on the internet provided more than 20 different magazines. This is a great inexpensive gift that would surely be enjoyed.
A video game rental membership is the gift that keeps on giving (sorry, couldn’t help myself). There are several video game rental services including Blockbuster. Some have annual membership programs while others have pay-as-you-go programs where you can buy gift cards.
Finally, you could buy a person some sports gear. Why? So hopefully they will get off of the couch once in a while and actually go outside.
Next up, iPods.
