Death Of The RickRoll
I was greatly saddened while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. No, it wasn’t the floats. Or the dancers. Or the singers. Wait. Backup. Yeah, it was one of the singers.
Macy’s RickRoll’D New York ya’ll. Right on the heals of being RickRoll’D by phone, Rick Astley pops out of the float. And for the first time in my life, I believed him. He IS “never gonna give (us) up”.
I spent the next half hour trying to explain the RickRoll to my in-laws. I am not sure they got it. All I got was head nods like you would if you tried explaining cold fusion the the average person.
So, is it funny anymore, or is it finally dead? Obviously the only way it could ever be funny again, if if it were done on an even larger scale. But that would require that the general public be educated about what it is prior to it happening. And that would ruin it. So, yeah, not funny anymore.

ok, World of WarCraft’s RickRoll = funny
YouTube’s official RickRoll = funny
this? ok, fine, whatever. but definitely dead now. except for the people that are now newly curious about it… *sigh*
